motel aurora is an imaginary place filled with noise, and northern lights, and things we do not speak of. it sounds like stoner country: high on melody but torn at the edges. ominously so at times.
motel aurora is an alter ego to Laura Schuster in cooperation with Michiel van Leeuwen (bass) and Sybren Woudstra (drums). others compare the music to Cat Power and PJ Harvey. home-recorded debut EP Karlakarlar (2011) was inspired by jigsaw puzzles and male archetypes, while Same/Title (2012) addresses issues such as tv satellites, shipwrecking, and rattle snakes – mythical phenomena that may be described but never fully understood.
